Regulation for evaluation
The Faculty of Communication at the UCLM will apply the Regulation for Students’ Evaluation, approved on May 28, 2014
Also, to guarantee the acquisition of transversal competences of the Degree in Journalism, the Faculty’s teaching team will adopt the following evaluation rules for all subjects, which will be applicable both in final tests as in the practices and exercises performed, regardless the call.
- In accordance with art. 9.1 of the Regulation for Students’ Evaluation: “The finding of fraudulent performance of an assessment test and failure to comply with the instructions set for carrying out the test will result in a failure grade (numerical mark of 0) in said test. In the particular case of the final tests, the failing grade will be extended to the corresponding call. Any form of plagiarism will mean that the test, work or exam will result in a 0.
- The acquisition of a proper oral and written expression is a basic competence of the Degree. Therefore, students shall respect the spelling rules dictated by the Real Academia de la Lengua Española, with regard to the spelling of words, signs of punctuation and accentuation.
The mistakes of any kind (spelling, punctuation and accentuation) will imply a decrease in the final mark of the test, work or exercise, according to the following scale:
- More than 4 mistakes: 1 point
- Up to 8 mistakes: 2 points
- More than 10 mistakes: the final mark of the exercise could not be more than 4
Clarifications:
Assessment for students who do not attend regularly
Art. 4.6, “The evaluation systems and criteria will make it easier for students who cannot regularly attend face-to-face training activities to pass the subject. In any case, the conditions to pass the subject in this modality will be reflected in the corresponding teaching guide”. This does not mean that the professor is forced to evaluate the student exclusively through a final test; professors could do so, but they can also request the student to submit the evaluable practices throughout the course (even if the student does not attend class regularly).
Review before university court
Art. 19.1 “Against the result of the review of the final grade set forth in Art. 18 (2), the student may request, by means of a reasoned letter addressed to the Centre’s Management, a review before the university court referred to in Art. 20 within 5 business days after the end of the grade review period. The review of grades obtained in the external internships, the Final Degree Project and the Master’s Degree may be also requested in the 5 business days following their publication”. Such a claim could not be submitted if the student has not attended the official review convened by the professor. Likewise, it is recalled that “there is also the possibility, in justified cases, that the university court carries out a new assessment test if it considers it appropriate”.
