The Faculty

D

ear Student,

I welcome you to the Faculty of Social Sciences in Cuenca, established in 1998 (Decree 52/1998 of 26 May of the Regional Ministry of Education and Culture of the Government of Castilla-La Mancha), following the integration of the “Cardenal Gil de Albornoz” University College.

Currently, the Faculty, with around 700 students, is an important academic centre of the University of Castilla-La Mancha on the Cuenca campus. It aims to achieve high standards of academic quality in the teaching of the following programmes: the Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management, Law, Labour Relations and Human Resources, Tourism, the Double Degree in Law and Business Administration and Management, and the Double Degree in Business Administration and Management and Tourism, all of which are adapted to the European Higher Education Area.

The Faculty also offers four official postgraduate programmes: the Master’s Degree in Business Strategy and Marketing (MUEME), the Master’s Degree in Tourism Business Management (MUDET), the Master’s Degree in International and European Taxation (MUFIE), and the Master’s Degree in Access to the Legal Profession. In addition, it offers several university-specific programmes, including the Master’s Degree in Public Procurement, the Master’s Degree in the Prevention and Treatment of Domestic Violence, the Master’s Degree in Gender Equality: Training of Equality Officers, the Specialist Programme in Canonical Matrimonial Law, and the Master’s Degree in Environmental Law and Sustainability. A wide range of courses, seminars and conferences are also organised, delivered by highly qualified professionals. There are numerous agreements with companies that allow our students to undertake external internships, which often lay the foundations for their future careers. The Faculty also offers the possibility of pursuing PhD studies in many fields through the International Doctoral School.

Convinced that, in an increasingly interconnected world, the exchange of knowledge is an essential part of university education, we maintain a wide network of agreements with Spanish and international universities. These agreements enable our students to study at partner institutions through the ERASMUS and SICUE programmes. Exchanges with Latin American universities are becoming increasingly frequent. In recent years, there has been a significant increase both in the number of students on our campus benefiting from these scholarships and in the number of international students studying at our Faculty.

On the Centre’s website, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students can find comprehensive information on academic matters, such as faculty members, study programmes, academic and examination calendars, an electronic guide to all subjects, and information on the courses and seminars regularly organised by the Faculty.

I would like to reiterate my welcome to the Faculty and express my confidence that your expectations will be met. All members of the Faculty — the management team, teaching staff, and administrative and support staff — are at your disposal.
